The hemp and cannabis plants contain more than 100 different chemical compounds known as cannabinoids, which interact with our pet’s endocannabinoid system (ours, too) in many positive ways! The endocannabinoid system regulates things like pain, anxiety, inflammation, appetite and so much more…
One of those cannabinoids found in hemp is CBD, or cannabidiol (pronounced cann-a-bid-EYE-ol). CBD is non-psychoactive, which means it won't get you high — but there's a growing body of evidence that it has numerous health benefits, as CBD binds to these receptors in our endocannabinoid system, resulting in an overall improvement and consistent wellness in the areas this system regulates.
At LIX, we use the highest quality Hemp CBD and combine it will other natural ingredients to create the highest quality human-grade wellness products for our pets (safe for you too!)
Yes. In 2018, the Farm Bill was signed into law. This bill removed CBD from the definition of marijuana if it contains no more than .3% THC.

Yes, CBD is perfectly safe for your pet and great for promoting their overall wellness.
According to Patty Khuly, DVM, “CBD’s safety profile has been studied in dogs at Colorado State University (conclusion: safe) and research into its efficacy in seizure disorders is currently underway there. A mountain of anecdotal reports also identifies osteoarthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, allergic skin disease, appetite stimulation, and nausea relief (among others) as other potential areas of study."
High-level evidence on efficacy is scant, to be sure, but CBD oil is considered safe and effective by a growing number of veterinary practitioners who aren’t your typical devotees of alternative medicine...” To read the article, click here.
Broad-spectrum CBD oil differs from full-spectrum CBD oil mainly because it contains no THC but does contain all the other cannabinoids and still has a hempy taste and smells like full-spectrum products.
At LIX, we do things differently; our CBD oil, while traditionally being a broad-spectrum because it contains no THC, is different in that it is flavorless and odorless, meaning it has NO hempy taste or smell, but all the benefits of a traditional broad-spectrum.
There are MANY, too many options for CBD choices these days. It is important to look for pet-specific CBD companies and ones that many holistic pet retailers choose. Pet-specific CBD companies focus on the overall health and wellness of animals. Not all CBD, for humans, is suitable for our pets, but unfortunately, in a very saturated market of products, many human companies are spinning off products for pets. Some may be perfectly safe, but some may not.
It is important to look at the ingredients listed in a CBD product, as it may seem like all CBD is the same, but it's not. Products have different carrier oils that may not be right for your pet and/or other ingredients added to the product (don’t just assume it's CBD). There may be unnecessary ingredients added or ones that may derive an effect that CBD will not do, does not support long-term wellness, or may not be for everyday use.
Feel free to contact us or stop by one of our retailers if you have questions about CBD products or ingredients.
No. CBD is non-intoxicating and will not make your pet high.
If you give your pet too much (and you would have to give them a lot!), you will notice them slightly more relaxed than you may have intended, and not to worry; they will metabolize it out of their system in a few hours. You can decrease to the appropriate milligrams on your next dose.
Yes! We recommend giving your CBD to your pet 1-2 times daily for the best results. The more consistent, the better the results!
If your dog is on medication and being monitored by your veterinarian, we recommend running the use of CBD by them first.
Occasionally, they’ll want you to adjust the dosage, as CBD can enhance the effects of certain medications and cannot be given in conjunction, so we’d like you to have their blessing.

LIX CBD can be placed on food or given directly into the mouth. Pets love taking the ELIXIR straight off the dropper and will happily take the treat.
The ease of giving it by mouth allows you to dose on the go and carry it along with you if you need to quickly give another dose, like at the vet or groomer. Giving it by mouth also allows for a faster activation time (15-20 min).
It is just as effective if placed on food, but keep in mind that when placed on food, your pet must eat the entire bowl in one sitting, and the activation time will vary, upwards to 45 min, depending on your pet's metabolism.
No need to force, trick, or give up when using LIX.
We suggest starting with a daily dose of our product. In some cases, you may see results right away, but please allow 3-5 days of consistent use for best results.
If you are looking to improve things like mobility or mood, we suggest picking a time of day and being consistent, like a dose every morning. You can certainly provide a dose to a pet that needs it for a particular situation that you know may affect their mood dramatically; make sure you allow for activation time.
We have many people who give a dose morning and night. A nightly dose can also help your pet to settle in for the evening. Try and be consistent with your dosing schedule. Sometimes it can take several days to see the overall benefits of using the product. Consistency will aid in promoting this wellness for your pets.
The ELIXIR is our custom flavorless and odorless oil formula (no hempy taste or smell!) that can be administered directly into the mouth or placed on food. We recommend the ELIXIR for on-the-go dosing, situational anxiety, or higher medicinal-level dosing.
The BITES are made with the same flavorless and odorless oil as the ELIIXR and are best as an everyday supplement. Made with limited ingredients, soft and have a higher milligram option than other treats on the market. They are great for your pet's general anxiety, mobility, and overall wellness, and they are SUPER yummy. The pickiest of pets will eat our BITES!
Yes, the product is safe for your pet. Exposure to light or heat may change the color of the ELIXIR, but it does NOT affect the product's efficacy. We recommend storing the bottle in its original box at room temperature.
We do not formulate for clear product, and when you get into the higher milligrams, there may be some color variance.
Just like us, every animal and situation is different. Finding the right product and milligram dosage for your pet is important.
We provide you with an easy-to-follow starting point guideline on all our packaging. This is a starting point, and the dose may need to be increased based on your pet's needs and situation. We recommend starting with the recommended dosage for a few days and then increasing from there. Most of the time, your pet may need higher than the recommended dose, so if you don’t see results increase the dose. For example: For situational anxiety, like fireworks, some pets may need 2 – 3 times the starting dosage for support during this time.
You should generally see an improvement in the use of our product within 3-5 days if given consistently and in the right dosage.
Our dosing guide is a baseline, so if you do not see an improvement within 3-5 days, try increasing .25ML more than the recommended dosage and continue to increase as needed for desired results. (If your pet is overly anxious or active, try giving a bit more)
We are always happy to help and answer questions, so feel free to contact us when needing assistance with dosing.
Yes, our products are safe for all animals, including puppies (once weaned from their momma). It can be great for teething pups, as CBD helps with inflammation in their mouth!
Please keep in mind that when using CBD for puppies, it is not for calming an energetic puppy. CBD helps with anxiety and can help an anxious pup work through a situation and support training. Still, it shouldn’t be considered an alternative to giving the puppy the mental and physical exercise it needs.
Yes! As our animals age, they experience decreased mobility, increased inflammation, a decline in cognitive function, and increased anxiety as their senses also decline. The sooner we can start giving CBD as a supplement to our aging animals, the better. If we can keep them moving and feeling their best as they age, the easier the aging process will be for them. They don’t want to lay around and sleep all day, but that is what we all want to do if we aren’t feeling our best, so let's keep them up moving, playing, and learning and promote senior happiness and health!
*Keep in mind that dogs are pack animals, and showing signs of pain is a sign of weakness, so by the time many exhibit the signs of pain, they are in a lot of it. Please don’t wait for the signs of aging. We all know they are older… let's support them now and help them age gracefully!
Senior pet owners: We now have an Advanced Formula blend, and we recommend it for super seniors (11+ years and older, depending on the breed), as it contains CBD, CBG, and CBN, which promotes better cognitive function and more restful sleep. If you are turning to CBD because your pet is older and having many of the difficulties listed above, not to worry; this is the product for you!
Here is our opinion at LIX –
There is insufficient evidence to make a total call, so we will ask you to consult your veterinarian. There is some risk involved in the choice to use CBD oil during pregnancy because we do not know enough yet to declare the right thing to do one way or another.
Until we all have more scientific evidence or anecdotal proof for pregnancy, we will not offer medical advice or recommend one path over the other. Our advice is that when it comes to producing life and raising the next generation of your puppies, it is best to consult with your veterinarian.
If you are not 100% satisfied with any product purchased from our website, you can return the item(s) within 30 days of your purchase date.
